Davao City (15 August) – Kadayawan sa Dabaw formally unfolds today on August 15 at the People’s Park, with the opening rituals befitting a thanksgiving to start off the annual revelry of bountiful harvest and cultural heritage.

Mass is set at 4 p.m. with an opening service which will be graced by Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, along with the city officials, festival committee teams, and guest speakers.

A diorama will be staged before and after the mass, where a prayer ritual will be given for the lumads and Moslems, in line with this year’s theme of “Ten Tribes, One Vibe.”

A lineup of activities are in store for the locals and visitors in the city, according to Lisette Marques, Festival Director under Duaw Dabaw Foundation, a private sector tasked to handle this year’s celebration.

Government and non-government agencies are in support of the highlights pulled together in anticipation of another successful weeklong merriment.  Highly participated activities are the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan, Pamulak (Floral Float Parade), Hudyakaan, Dayaw Dabaw Street Market, Ho-Chia sa Chinatown, Lumadnong Gama, Hiyas sa Kadayawan, Sayaw Mindanaw, Panagtagbo, Tunog Mindanaw, and lots more.
