PLDT fires up Davao’s Kadayawan with free WiFi
August 18, 2012 – Leading telecommunications provider PLDT is bringing Davao to the world by providing free WiFi to Kadayawan festival goers. WiFi Zones, powered by PLDT, will fire up the city at the height of the Kadayawan festivities from August 18 – 19.
“We hope to showcase the colorful Kadayawan festival to the world by providing spectators free premium Wifi access that will enable them to share their photos or videos of the festival to their families and friends here and abroad,” said PLDT Davao Customer Service Zone Head Benjamin Gaite.
The free Wifi service will enable the public to connect to the Internet as they walk along the parade route, covering the following streets: San Pedro, Bonifacio, C.M. Recto, R. Magsaysay, Roxas, and Pelayo.

A valuable tool for festival guests, the free Internet access allows them to chronicle the event and post live photos and updates as they happen via Twitter, Facebook, or other social networking sites.
“We are happy to be part of this celebration by providing the city with our premium Wifi service. WiFi Zone complements the myDSL service at home, allowing customers to stay connected even outside their home,” said PLDT Vice President and Head for Broadband Gary Dujali.

During the festivities, PLDT myDSL subscribers in Davao may simply register to get their FREE username and password, or get a free trial PIN in the PLDT booths to access the WiFi Zone. Non-subscribers may use the PIN that will be provided by PLDT.
Part of the aggressive nationwide roll-out of WiFi Zone, free trial WiFi Zone PINs will be distributed during the festivities at the PLDT booths located in the following areas: People’s Park near Apo View Hotel, Quezon and Rizal Park, Bonifacio cor. Pelayo Sts., and C.M. Recto cor. Roxas Ave. near Marco Polo Hotel.

Currently, PLDT has over 3,500 WiFi Zones in the country’s major metropolitan areas, from NCR, to Cebu, to Baguio, and Davao. Service coverage will soon extend to other regions and eventually, the whole country. To register, visit wifizone.pldthome.com.
Free access to the PLDT Wifi Zones in the Kadayawan Festival will run until September 30.
Kadayawan, also known as the “King of Festivals,” is an annual Davao event held on the 3rd week of August. Coming from the word “madayaw,” which means good, Kadayawan is a celebration of thanksgiving for the year’s blessings.
