Celebrating Davao’s artistry at SM Lanang Premier’s ‘My City, My SM, My Crafts’
Celebrating Mindanao’s premier shopping destination – SM Lanang Premier – officially opened an exhibition that pays tribute to Davaoeño craftsmanship on October 23, 2014 at the Atrium.
Called ‘My City, My SM, My Crafts,’ the exhibit is a celebration of traditional arts and modern Philippine design in the cities where SM has malls.
The launch was graced by Davao City Councilor Victorio Advincula, Jr., who represented Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Also present at the event were Congressman Karlo Nograles and his wife Marga, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Rican Calig-onan of Caraga, Davao Oriental and Davao Ikebana Society President Danney Barnett.
Products of world-class Davaoeño artisans –Dati Coco Crafts by Orlino and Detty Ladao, Great Gifts & Souvenirs International Corp. by Leny Villegas-Castillo, Jun Artajo, Le’ Mar Arts and Crafts by Mary Ann ‘Baby’ Montemayor, Shiela Damalerio, and Tadeco Home – with a special highlight on the traditional arts and crafts of the Mandaya tribe of Caraga, Davao Oriental are showcased in this exhibit.

The featured artisans were each presented through a video hosted by 2007 Bb. Pilipinas International Nadia Shami and a fashion show that underscores their creations.
The event is a joint project of SM, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bureau of Domestic Trade and the Philippine Star, with the support from the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Park Inn by Radisson Davao.
