While its cover title says, “How now Davao? Why Mindanao’s crown-jewel region is riding a fresh wave of popularity“, the photo is of the pristine Dahican beach which is in my birthplace of Mati City. Though not mentioned in the title, the feature story is inside (cover photo not mine).
Here is another photo of the beachscape I grew up in, which used to be empty and undiscovered. Now it’s quite a popular hangout for beach bums, surfers and celebrities in hiding. Resorts are now filling up the shorelines.
Inside main photos of the Davao story are by me and Rhonson Ng. These images are also on framed displays inside Museo Dabawenyo (San Pedro Cathedral, Monument of Peace and Unity, Sangguniang Panglungsod Building and night shot of San Pedro Street). Feature story is written by Jonathan Evans.
