Davao-Singapore inaugural flight of Cebu Pacific opens

December 17, 2015 – The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) sent off its inaugural flight from Davao to Singapore today.  This marks the beginning of the airline’s twice weekly service to its first international destination from Davao.

The maiden flight was sent off at the airport by Philippine Department of Tourism Assistant Secretary Arturo Boncato Jr, Davao Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines General Manager Efren Nagrama, and CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

Cebu Pacific launches inaugural Davao-Singapore flight

With the launch of the new Davao-Singapore route, even more travelers from Davao and neighboring regions can take advantage of CEB’s trademark lowest fares and convenient connectivity to explore Singapore. CEB’s current promo fare for this route go as low as P2,828 all-in, up to 66% lower than other airlines.

Conversely, Singapore ranked 6th when it comes to the Philippines’ foreign tourist arrival sources from January to September 2015. Over 136,000 Singaporean tourists went to the Philippines during this period, growing by 3.41%, compared to the same period last year.

The new direct route opens up the Philippines to more travelers from Singapore, who can utilize CEB’s extensive Philippine network to explore Davao, and various destinations via Davao.

The flight from Davao departed at 5:35pm and arrived in Singapore at 9:10pm. The return flight departed Singapore at 9:55pm and arrived in Davao at 1:40am the next day. The twice weekly service is operated every Thursday and Sunday, utilizing the airline’s brand-new Airbus A320 fleet.

CEB further contributed to the national tourism agenda, as it launched direct flights between Manila and Fukuoka, Japan, as well as between Cebu and Taipei, Taiwan on the same day.

“The launches of three international routes from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao underscore Cebu Pacific’s commitment to provide more travel opportunities, and make the Philippines and the world easily accessible to everyJuan,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

CEB’s network now spans 64 destinations on 98 routes, including flights to Guam, Dubai, Doha, Sydney, Bali, Seoul, and Beijing.
