PLDT ambassador Pia Wurtzbach brings HOME the Miss Universe 2015 crown
The Philippines makes pageant history once again after a 42-year drought for the crown.
Miss Philippines and PLDT HOME DSL ambassador Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was recently crowned Miss Universe 2015 after a dramatic coronation night held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Wurtzbach bested 80 women from various parts of the globe to claim the country’s third Miss Universe title. She follows in the footsteps of Gloria Diaz who won in 1969 and Margie Moran who brought home the crown in 1973.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was born on September 24, 1989 in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, to a German father and Filipino mom. Her hometown is in Cagayan de Oro but she studied at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in San Juan, Metro Manila. This German-Filipina stunner who stands 5’8″ is an actress, model, host, TV personality, chef, beauty writer, stylist, makeup artist, and now a prestigious beauty pageant titleholder bringing honor and pride to the Philippines.
She has worked as an actress at aged 11 under the screen name Pia Romero. Currently, she is a stylist and writer for the lifestyle section of a leading newspaper in the Philippines.
