Canon announces new President and CEO By Jojie Alcantara Photos by Rhonson Ng Canon Marketing Philippines Inc.(CMPI) is proud to announce the appointment of Lim Kok Hin as the company’s new President and Chief Executive Officer starting last July 1, 2014. He replaces Alan Chng, who is now President and CEO of Canon Marketing Thailand. During a special lunch meeting with the Davao media in Seda Hotel, Mr. Lim said that when he was notified of the transfer, he looked forward to seeing the Philippines and what it has to offer. A 30-year Canon veteran, his expertise and extensive high level industry experience is expected to provide leadership and strategic vision that would take Canon Philippines forward. Mr. Lim held several management positions at Canon Malaysia from 1991 until 2006, when he was promoted as Senior Director of Business Imaging Solutions (BIS) at Canon Singapore Pte Ltd (CSPL). Dabawenyo behind Olympus Pen Camera launch in the Philippines By Jojie Alcantara, Photos by Rhonson Ng (published in SunStar Davao, Oct. 14, 2011) My favorite success stories are ones closer to home –like hearing about a fellow Dabawenyo who has been doing great abroad and is now bringing his achievements back into his country. I received a call from former schoolmate in Ateneo de Davao, Renato Buhay, who was a few years my senior. He was a Blue Knight since Kindergarten, and if I remember correctly, was an active leader in school and sports. Bong (now Rene), as we all used to call him, left Davao in 1987, moved to the US and worked his way up in the imaging industry. Having acquired the RedDot Imaging Company as the President, and now the CEO of RedDot Imaging-Philippines, his company was able to snap exclusive rights and distributorship of popular camera brands in the country.
